Common Questions Regarding Pallet Racks Repair vs. Replace
A pallet racking system enables you to do your business in a warehouse setting. Without it, your business is down with no revenue coming in. The racking system is a substantial investment made on behalf of your company. It is a big decision to either repair or replace it. Here are some answers to questions that we regularly receive in regards to a warehouse pallet racking system:
Why repair instead of replacing?
Answer: The cost of repairing is usually much less than replacing and can be done with minimal disruption to daily operations.
Is the repair as strong as the original?
Answer: Yes, and in most cases even more so, as the repaired section is using heavier structural materials instead of the roll formed materials.
Do repairs require welding?
Answer: Yes, all our repairs are welded. However, if you have a facility where welding is not allowed, we can do all welding in our shop and provide you a bolt on solution.
Will the repair be noticeable?
Answer: We try to make our repairs blend in. We are proud of our repairs, but we do not make them stand out as to call attention to them.
Do we need to empty the racks?
Answer: Of course, if you have severe damage, the racks should be emptied and not used until they have been repaired or replaced. Most damaged columns although they should be repaired in a timely manner, they can be repaired without emptying the rack.
When repairing the column, will I still be able to move our beam levels?
Answer: Yes, it is an option on the most common rack styles. Although, if your first beam level is 3ft or higher and you have no plans for lower beam levels, we may suggest a “tubing” repair that has no adjustment.
Do you offer rack inspections?
Answer: Yes, we do offer inspections and provide a full detailed report. Usually, these are done for no charge if we do the repairs.
What styles can you repair?
Answer: Although the most common types are teardrop, republic/keystone and round punched. We offer custom repair solutions to all types of racks.
Can you repair my drive-in system?
Answer: We have repaired many drive-in systems.
Do you repair “push back” systems?
Answer: Yes, we do repair and maintain pushback systems.
What if my storage system has a sprinkler system? Will it have to be removed?
Answer: If the fire suppression system was not damaged when the rack was, then it will not need to be removed.
How to prevent future damage?
Answer: Each situation is a little different. Sometimes it is additional training that may be needed; other times it is with engineered solutions. We custom build heavy-duty protection at reasonable costs.
